Chromatic and Abstract Dimensions in Artist Sabreen Al-Majed’s Exhibition "Hoof’s Dream"

Ahwal Al-Ma'rifa – Special

Visual artist Sabrin Al-Majed has launched her first art exhibition, titled “Hoof’s Dream,” at Dhawi Gallery in Al Khobar. The exhibition was held in honor of renowned visual artist Ali Al-Ruzaiza and was attended by a distinguished group of artists, art enthusiasts, and those interested in visual arts.

The exhibition attracted a notable number of visitors, who expressed their admiration for the artworks and the visual diversity presented through the artist’s distinctive approach to depicting horses in an abstract style. The “Hoof’s Dream” exhibition will continue through Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The concept behind the exhibition emerged from the artist’s experimentation with a collection of artworks inspired by the image of the horse in its various forms and at different speeds. This exploration led to her artistic focus on the significance of the title “Hoof’s Dream.”

The exhibition features more than 50 works, varying in artistic techniques and color compositions. The paintings explore the colors, movements, and speeds of horses, moving away from traditional representations and presenting them through an abstract visual language that highlights the deeper meanings associated with the horse.

The abstract representation of horses forms the central visual identity of Al-Majed’s work. Rather than depicting horses directly, she presents fragments of them, which sometimes come together in groups of horses whose features are not immediately recognizable. Their presence is suggested through their legs, heads, or other parts of their bodies. In doing so, she explores a different artistic horizon, moving beyond conventional approaches that portray horses in a direct and realistic manner.

The artist’s diverse visual approach gives viewers considerable freedom to interpret the different representations of the horse and to explore how she focuses on particular aspects of its form and enriches them artistically through color and expressive shadows.

Perhaps it is this approach—one that does not fully depict the image but instead transforms it into a symbolic representation—that gives the paintings their many layers of interpretation. This is particularly evident in the use of condensation and reduction, the subtle concealment of meaning, and the search for a connection between movement and color symbolism, as well as between the image of the horse in motion and the image of the horse at rest. This artistic interplay gives Sabrin Al-Majed’s paintings multiple visual dimensions, encouraging viewers to spend more time contemplating each work and discovering its many possible meanings.
