H.E. the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, commended the cultural and intellectual efforts undertaken by the King Abdulaziz Public Library branch at Peking University. These efforts aim to promote the spread and presence of Arab and Islamic culture in the People's Republic of China through various initiatives—such as teaching the Arabic language and disseminating its literature and arts—as well as through the mutual translation of numerous books that introduce Chinese readers to Saudi literature, heritage, and culture, alongside the translation of significant works from Chinese culture and heritage. H.E. the Minister also praised the library's distinctive role in fostering cross-cultural communication, emphasizing that these cultural initiatives contribute to deepening ties of understanding between the Saudi and Chinese peoples. This visit took place within the framework of strengthening the Kingdom’s cultural and intellectual presence in Chinese academic circles and highlighting the library's role as a cultural bridge between Arab and Chinese cultures. During the tour, H.E. inspected the library’s facilities and its cultural and academic programs—including the permanent Arabic calligraphy exhibition and knowledge-based initiatives offered to Peking University students and visitors from various Chinese universities. He also received a briefing on cultural projects implemented by the library in 2025, as well as ongoing work for the 2026 plan to develop diverse programs, events, and Saudi-Chinese cultural exchange activities. For his part, His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts and achievements of the library branch, as well as the role it plays as a leading platform for cultural and intellectual exchange in China, and affirmed his continued support for programs that promote the Kingdom’s image, history, and culture in international academic forums.
