Manuscript on the Origins of Arabian Horses Headlines Exhibits: King Abdulaziz Library Showcases Rare Manuscripts Reflecting Saudi Arabia’s Intellectual Heritage at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur Book Fair.
The King Abdulaziz Public Library enriched visitors to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion, the Guest of Honor at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair, with a selection of rare manuscripts and heritage publications highlighting the Kingdom’s rich civilizational and intellectual heritage. The participation, led by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, is being held from May 29 to June 7 at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The pavilion features a number of rare manuscripts and publications, most notably the manuscript Origins of Arabian Horses by Abbas Pasha I, considered one of the most important specialized references on Arabian horse pedigrees. The King Abdulaziz Public Library took particular care in preparing the manuscript for publication, reproducing the original manuscript, and making it available to readers in two volumes. The collection also includes Title of Glory in the History of Najd by historian Uthman bin Bishr, regarded as an important historical source documenting events in the Arabian Peninsula and the history of the Saudi state.
The manuscripts on display highlight the rich intellectual heritage preserved in Saudi libraries, as well as the historical, scientific, and literary texts they contain, which embody the contributions of Arab and Islamic civilization to the fields of knowledge and culture and reflect the meticulous care devoted to preserving and safeguarding heritage for future generations.
The King Abdulaziz Public Library’s participation forms part of the Saudi cultural program accompanying the fair, which highlights the components of Saudi cultural identity and showcases the Kingdom’s efforts to preserve its intellectual heritage and strengthen its presence at international cultural forums. These efforts contribute to building bridges of civilizational and cultural exchange with peoples around the world.
