The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the King Library...
The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language signed a memorandum of understanding today with the King Abdulaziz Public Library to foster mutual cooperation. This partnership entails implementing various development projects, as well as cultural and training activities, dedicated to serving the Arabic language—including its sciences, arts, and literature—in alignment with the objectives of the Human Capability Development Program (a Vision 2030 realization program). The agreement was signed at the library’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of the Library’s General Supervisor, Mr. Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar; the Academy’s Secretary-General, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi; and the Library’s Director General, Dr. Bandar bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak. This signing supports the Academy’s pursuit of its primary goals, foremost among them: the continuous service of the Arabic language; the preservation of its integrity in speech and writing; the study of its eloquence, origins, styles, standards, and rules; and the facilitation of its learning and teaching—both within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad—to keep pace with modern developments. The memorandum covers areas of cooperation such as the development of bibliographic databases and authority files in Arabic language sciences and related disciplines, as well as the creation of digital repositories. It also encompasses collaboration on building Arabic linguistic corpora, producing various lists of linguistic frequency, and exchanging scholarly output—including books, periodicals, proceedings of academic activities, and other publications—between the two parties. Furthermore, the agreement entails cooperation in conducting and publishing studies and research related to the Academy’s Arabic language proficiency testing program, participation in the exhibition accompanying the Academy’s annual conference, the translation of books and works on testing, and the inclusion of the Academy’s testing-related research in the library’s databases.
