The 10th meeting of the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Beijing strengthens Saudi-Chinese cultural cooperation.
The King Abdulaziz Public Library branch at Peking University hosted the tenth meeting of its Board of Directors—a gathering of a distinctly cultural nature that reflected the depth of knowledge-based cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China. This meeting was a continuation of a series of significant initiatives and projects that have solidified the library’s role as a cultural bridge connecting two languages and cultures within one of China’s most prestigious universities. The proceedings opened in the presence of H.E. Mr. Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, General Supervisor of the Library; H.E. Dr. Jiang Guohua, Vice President of Peking University; and H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the People's Republic of China. The session reviewed key achievements from 2025 and the cultural and intellectual events hosted by the branch, which played a tangible role in enhancing the Arab presence at the university and supporting cultural exchange programs for students and researchers from both sides. The meeting included a review of the 2025 annual cultural report, highlighting extensive cultural programs, art exhibitions, academic translation competitions, and student activities that showcased the beauty of Arab culture and fostered connections with Chinese academic circles. The Board also discussed the operational plan for 2026, outlining ambitious projects aimed at boosting cultural activities, expanding partnerships, and developing new programs to serve researchers and scholars. Discussions during the meeting emphasized the importance of enriching Arabic content in the Chinese language, supporting joint research projects, and elevating the level of cooperation in cultural and linguistic programs. The participants emphasized the importance of sustaining the events that have established the library's presence over the past years, as well as developing new initiatives to deepen mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese civilizations. At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees commended the achievements of the past year, affirming that the King Abdulaziz Public Library branch has become a vital hub for human connection and an open space for cultural interaction between the peoples of the Arab world and China. The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Zaid, Deputy General Supervisor of the Library, and Mr. Faisal bin Yousef Al-Mutairi, Vice President of Aramco Asia. Attendees from the Chinese side included H.E. Jiang Guohua, Vice President of Peking University; Dr. Fu Zhiming, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Peking University; Dr. Zhou Xiaobo, Director of the Office of Social Sciences at Peking University; Dr. Zhou Manli, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations at Peking University; and Dr. Zheng Qingwen, Secretary of the CPC Committee at the Peking University Library and Director of the King Abdulaziz Public Library branch at Peking University.
