Conclusion of the "Aknan 3" Fine Art Exhibition at the King Abdulaziz Public Library

The third edition of the "Aknan" fine art exhibition concluded today at the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh. Organized by the Saudi Fine Arts Society (Gesft), the event aimed to showcase the aesthetics of Saudi fine art—spanning classical, symbolic, and experimental schools—and to highlight the creative artists behind them, while fostering greater interaction between these artists and the Kingdom's art community. The exhibition, which drew a distinguished turnout of artists and the public, continues the Society’s mission to support Saudi fine artists and showcase their diverse works. These pieces draw inspiration from the Kingdom’s heritage and local aesthetics, capturing details of daily life—such as homes, streets, cafés, villages, and both traditional and modern cities—as well as the Kingdom's varied architectural styles. Furthermore, the Society seeks to celebrate Saudi artists and document their artistic history in alignment with Vision 2030 goals. It also prioritizes the protection of artists' intellectual, artistic, and financial rights, issues certificates of authenticity, organizes acquisition and marketing processes, and supports the local art market to help it reach its full potential. The exhibition was inaugurated last Tuesday, May 28, 2024, by H.E. Faisal bin Muammar, General Supervisor of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, at the library’s headquarters on Khurais Road, Riyadh. It provided a valuable opportunity for young artists to engage with established figures in the field and benefit from their experiences. The exhibition featured a collection of paintings, visual artworks, and sculptures spanning various two- and three-dimensional styles. It highlighted a diversity of artistic approaches and schools of visual art—bridging the work of pioneering and emerging generations—with the aim of refining the audience's visual sensibility and public taste. Visitors could explore artworks that showcased modern creative techniques and the implicit dialogue between color, shadow, mass, and space. These works reflected creative visions inspired by the movement and scale of objects, while deepening the visual perception of the moment and color—elements that lend each piece its own distinctive artistic style.
