The "Pulse of Letters" exhibition embodies the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy in celebration of World Arabic Language Day.
To mark World Arabic Language Day on December 18, the Saudi Visual Arts Association organized a celebratory cultural event highlighting the profound significance of the Arabic language as a vessel for identity, a voice for Arab culture, and an authentic source of artistic creativity linked to the language of the Holy Quran. The event featured a visual arts exhibition titled "Pulse of the Letters" (Nabd Al-Huroof), held in collaboration with the King Abdulaziz Public Library last Thursday (December 18, 2025). The exhibited works drew inspiration from the Arabic letter as an aesthetic and visual element capable of artistic expression, serving as a bridge between authentic artistic heritage and contemporary visual art practices. The exhibition reflects the Association’s commitment to supporting visual artists and fostering creative endeavors rooted in cultural identity; it contributes to raising aesthetic awareness within the community and enhancing the presence of the Arabic language in the visual arts. Dr. Hanaa Al-Shibli, Chairwoman of the Saudi Visual Arts Association, explained that the event aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s objectives to promote the Arabic language, activate its presence across various creative fields, and empower it as a language of civilization capable of engaging with modern developments without compromising its authenticity. She added that celebrating the Arabic letter within visual arts expands creative horizons and strengthens the language's presence in the contemporary cultural landscape, thereby solidifying its global standing. The exhibition aligns with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which places culture and the arts at the heart of comprehensive development, aiming to build a vibrant society that takes pride in its national identity, supports creativity, and invests in artistic talent as a driver of cultural and economic growth. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Bandar Al-Mubarak, Director General of the King Abdulaziz Public Library, on behalf of the Library’s General Supervisor, Mr. Faisal bin Muammar. Featuring forty artworks, the event included the participation of distinguished artists serving as guests of honor: master calligrapher Nasser Al-Maimoon, accomplished artist Nasser Al-Mousa, and master calligrapher Mohammed Al-Ajlan. In her concluding remarks, Dr. Hanaa Al-Shibli expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the King Abdulaziz Public Library for hosting and supporting this cultural event, highlighting its role as a hub for creativity. She also thanked all the participating artists and the organizing committee, led by Board Member Dr. Mohammed Al-Mansour, Executive Director Ms. Munira Al-Zouman, Exhibition Organizer Ms. Areej Al-Qandalji, and Exhibition Coordinator Mr. Abdullah Al-Muhaya.
